UPDATING TO HedgeSim 3.0.1 UPDATING AN INSTALLED VERSION OF HedgeSim 3.0 FIRST TIME INSTALLATIONS OF HedgeSim 3.0.1 FORWARD ------- The original production team of HedgeSim(TM) 3.0 Futures Market Simulator was reassembled in order to bring you a Y2K compliant version of the program. We trust you will find using HedgeSim(TM) 3.0.1 an enjoyable experience long into the future. Please follow these instructions for replacing the Hedgesim.exe file so that your version of HedgeSim(TM) is Y2K compliant. INTRODUCTION ------------ The process of updating to HedgeSim(TM) 3.0.1 involves updating system files and replacing the Hedgesim.exe file. In order to complete this update you will have to remove the old Hedgesim.exe file and run the setup.exe program contained on this diskette. Last, drag the new HEDGESIM.exe file to the HEDGESIM folder on your hard drive. This operation will install the new Y2K compliant drivers and the new Y2K version of Hedgesim.exe. Please note that installation Option 2 (described on page 9 of the HedgeSim(TM) 3.0 User's Guide) is the only local option available for HedgeSim 3.0.1. IS YOUR OS Y2K COMPLIANT? ------------------------- In order to use HedgeSim(TM) 3.0.1 it is important that your Microsoft Windows® operating system (OS) be fully Y2K compliant. It is recommended that you install the latest Y2K update for your particular OS. They are available from Microsoft’s World Wide Web site at http://www.microsoft.com/y2k/. Windows NT 4 users must install service pack 5. Windows 98 users should upgrade to Second Edition or install Windows 98 service pack 1. Windows 95 users should consider upgrading to Windows 98 Second Edition or install the Windows 95 Year 2000 Update. UPDATING AN INSTALLED VERSION OF HedgeSim(TM) 3.0 ------------------------------------------------- To install HedgeSim(TM) 3.0.1 on a fully Y2K compliant OS with HedgeSim(TM) 3.0 Option 2 installed (please see HedgeSim(TM) 3.0 User's Guide, page 9). 1. Quit any open programs. 2. Find the Hedgesim folder on your computer. 3. In the Hedgesim folder locate and delete the file named Hedgesim.exe. 4. Run the Setup file of the Y2K update (this may be from your hard drive or a diskette). 5. Copy the new HEDGESIM.EXE file to the HedgeSim folder on your hard drive. 6. You may confirm that the new Hedgesim.exe has been installed by checking that the file size is 536KB and date of the file is 12/15/2000. Upon successful completion of the installation your HedgeSim(TM) 3.0.1 Futures Market Simulator will be ready to run beyond 01/01/2000. FIRST TIME INSTALLATIONS OF HedgeSim(TM) 3.0.1 ---------------------------------------------- 1. Make certain that your operating system (OS) is fully Y2K compliant (see section above). 2. Follow the instructions, beginning on page 9 of the HedgeSim(TM) 3.0 User's Guide to install HedgeSim(TM) 3.0 Option 2, to your hard drive. 3.
